Daleen Fluidity Pilates

Daleen Roodt

Owner & Principal Instructor

Daleen has been working as a botanical artist since 2008. Her Pilates journey started in 2012 as a means to help recover from a sports injury. After two years of experiencing the incredible benefits of the method, and looking to diversify her career, she completed her BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training in 2014. She had a further two-year teaching experience working at Body Intellect, South Africa’s base for BASI (Body Arts and Science International). This was the start of a growing passion and fascination with movement, form, and the muscle manipulation and benefits possible through mind-body exercise. She works with detail and perfection to explore and discover each individual’s unique potential. She also incorporates methods of dance and the aerial arts in her teachings. Fluidity® was established in 2014.

Gemma Ryan

Instructor

Gemma started doing Pilates following a back injury. After realising how beneficial it was for building core strength, balance, and a deeper understanding of the human body, she quickly became a Pilates believer. She has been doing Pilates for over 10 years in the UK and South Africa and learned a lot from different teachers and different methodologies, which she incorporates in her own teaching.  Gemma gained her BASI Mat Teacher Training qualification in 2019 and aims to further her studies by completing her Comprehensive qualification in the next few years.  Gemma sees Pilates as a way of life, and a way of developing a deeper understanding of your body and how to make informed changes to enhance quality of life.

I am a registered physiotherapist with over 30 years of experience. I started practicing Pilates in 2019.  The phenomenal improvement in my own body made me want to know more….I want my clients to benefit from Pilates too! That led me to enrol, first for the BASI Mat Teachers Training, followed by the BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training program. 

The Pilates method has given me the “missing link” to full body rehabilitation. Pilates facilitates small but deep changes in the core of your body, that builds to the most amazing result of physical longevity. It’s a “better body” journey and it’s never too late to start.

Classes

Established in 2014, Fluidity® is a BASI (Body Arts and Science International) qualified studio offering classes in mind-body disciplines including Pilates, Aerial Yoga and Bootybarre.

Pilates

Developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, this method of physical fitness is focused on strengthening the core and deep stabilizing muscles responsible for maintaining good posture and relieving pain experienced by injury or compression of especially the spine and other joints. It is a low-impact method of exercise that builds lean muscle – a wonderful method to practice on its own, but also a great accompaniment practiced by many professional sportsmen and women.

Bootybarre

Bootybarre is a fun, energetic full body workout that fuses techniques from dance, Pilates, and Yoga that will tone, define and chisel the entire body. It is the perfect combination of strength and flexibility with an added cardiovascular element utilizing the barre. Daleen had the privilege of training under creator and celebrity trainer Tracey Mallett in 2014.

Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga draws its inspiration from the aerial arts – it is practiced on a hammock, which can either assist or further challenge traditional Yoga postures and incorporates poses and vinyasa from Yoga as well as core principles from Pilates. It is a fairly challenging, yet deeply satisfying class, that will leave you feeling strong, stretched, deeply relaxed and floating back into life. Classes are adjusted to suit all levels, offering many modifications to either assist or challenge each individual.
